On Saturday, April 27th, TXCPA Austin held our first ever Student Resume and Interview Workshop at the chapter offices.
Despite it being a Saturday (and with it already being a busy weekend for many thanks to Avengers and Game of Thrones), close to 20 CPA volunteers took time out of their morning to provide this invaluable service to future CPAs.
We had over 30 students from multiple schools in the Chapter area sign up for the workshop. Students had the option to sign up for a 30 minute mock interview or a one on one resume review session with a CPA, with many students opting to sign up for both opportunities. In fact, the event was so popular, we actually filled all of our open student spots and had to turn several students away!
Both students and CPA members alike had nothing but praise for the workshop which was a joint effort by the Chapter and Austin Community College. We would like to give a special thanks to Professors Tracie Miller-Nobles, Larry Stephens and Denise White for helping to facilitate the event.
Huge thanks to Roger CPA Review for sponsoring the workshop!
With the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from this event, plans are already being made for a second effort in the fall. More details to come!
