TXCPA Austin held our first ever Student Resumé and Interview Workshop back in April. Unsure at the time of what to expect, the event ended up being a runaway success! So much in fact, that we decided to do it again!

On October 26th, 30 students, a small army of TXCPA volunteers and a mountain of Torchy’s breakfast tacos all made their way to the Chapter offices for mock interviews and one-on-one resumé reviews. Many students even opted to stay past their assigned timeslot to have valuable networking time with our CPA members and other students.

Both students and CPA volunteers alike had nothing but praise for the workshop:

“The resumé workshop, as well as the mock interview, was a personal instructive one-on-one experience. I am thankful for the resources and the volunteers that provided their time to teach the instrumental resumé and interview skills needed to attain work in my future career field.” – Susan Barney, Texas State University Alumni and Future CPA

“One of my favorite parts about being involved in the Society is being able to share my experiences and hope that it makes a difference in someone else’s success story.” – Sarah Burgess-Finley, Senior Associate with DK Partners, PC

Of course, a great event would not be complete without great door prizes! The prizes for this event were two copies of his book, 49 Tips for a Successful Accounting Career generously donated by TXCPA San Antonio member, Mark Goldman, CPA.

Thank you to the faculty at ACC, Coordinator Linda Messing, and all our wonderful CPA volunteers for helping us to put on this fantastic event for the future leaders of our profession!
